Food Parcels

The demand for the food parcels is on the rise, with both the 'Burton Corps' and the 'Soup Kitchen' handing out approximately 18 food parcels per month during 2011.
Some people were referred to us by social services, as well as housing associations and the Citizens' Advice Bureau, whereas others just turn up and ask for help.
donations for the food parcels are welcome.
We try to provide people with a well-rounded meal, with things like bread and butter, tins of meat and soup, as well as tea and sugar, also to take into account any dietary needs as well.

Each food parcel is for 4-5days duration at approximately £7.50 per person.
Average contents for 1 adult and 2 children is :-
1 loaf of bread, 1 pack margarine, 1 small bag sugar, 2 cans soup, 2 cans baked beans, 40 tea bags, 1 small bag pasta, 1 jar pasta sauce, 1 pot jam, 1 tin cooked meat (e.g. Spam), 2 tins meat (e.g. stewed steak/hot dogs), 1 packet biscuits, 1 tin rice/sponge pudding, 1 tin fish (sardines/tuna) and 1 tin fruit.
