Salvation Army shows can-do attitude for needy

A MUSICAL extravaganza has kicked off in style with three talented actsA joint concert has been held, in Burton Salvation Army’s citadel, in Mosley Street, with Uttoxeter Town Brass Band, Burton Salvation Army Songsters (choir), and Timbrel Group.
The band presented a varied programme, including marches - Montreal Citadel, and Death or Glory, well known items such as a selection from Oliver, The Great Escape film theme, Delilah - by Tom Jones, and Beyond the Sea – from the film Finding Nemo, among other well known pieces.
The songsters contributed items on their own including - Total Praise, and God’s Love To Me Is Wonderful, in addition to items jointly performed such as Simply Trusting, and If ever I Loved Thee.
The band and timbrel’s performed Eric Ball’s Star Lake, and the final item, The Irish Blessing, was performed by band and songsters.
Vic Wileman, member of Burton Salvation Army, said: “The evening proved to be a resounding success, with audience thoroughly enjoying all the 23 items on the packed programme.”
The event is followed by the Burton Salvation Army’s ‘Brew ‘n’ Brunch’ at its hall, on Saturday, February 23, between 11am and 2pm.
The Salvation Army Band from Chalk Farm, will be visiting Burton Salvation Army over the weekend of March 16 and 17.
On Saturday, March 16 the band will be providing a programme of music Tickets costs £4 are available from Keith Adnams for the Saturday programme.
